In addition to her songwriting endeavors, Susan has been a studio vocalist
since her early teens. She has recorded in more than 35 RECORDING STUDIOS
nationwide and has sung on countless sessions, covering a wide range of music.
Susan has extensive experience as a voiceover talent; she writes scripts
and records professional narrations for a variety of projects.
While living in Atlanta, Susan was a recording studio manager. Today she
sings, writes, produces sessions and offers music consulting services at
Fernandina Beach's Key of Sea Studio!

Background...
Susan was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where music was always part of her life. Her mother played piano
and her sister played flute; her father just played the radio and record albums, but he introduced Susan
to big band music, sparking her lifelong love of jazz. She began writing music and lyrics at the age of eight.
When she was ten she won first place in a talent contest, singing The Battle Hymn of The Republic. During
high school and college Susan studied piano and classical voice, while performing in folk groups and rock
bands.
Her first vocal group was featured weekly on a popular Milwaukee TV show called Singin' Here Tonight.

Susan is a prolific, award-winning songwriter with hundreds of original songs ranging from pop, country and jazz to children's music. She has a teaching degree, extensive experience writing nonfiction and commercial
advertising copy, and too many other jobs to list, besides music—her first love. Susan lived in Atlanta, GA
for 24 years where she became well known for her studio work, live performances, jingles production, and voiceover talents. Today she and her husband live in Northeast Florida on beautiful Amelia Island.

THE WOMAN IN ME hit number 1 on radio stations across the country and reached the number 3 spot on
Billboard's charts. It was the first single released from Crystal Gayle's Hollywood/Tennessee album and remained
on the country and adult contemporary charts for over a year. The song continues to receive worldwide airplay.

THE WOMAN IN ME is also featured on Crystal's Greatest Hits, her Super Hits, and 20 Songs From the Heart CDs,
plus numerous compilation releases. Sheet music arrangements are available in a variety of Hal Leonard song books.

Susan has been honored with an ASCAP Performance Award and Atlanta Songwriter of the Year Award.

Billboard Magazine awarded "Spotlights" to two albums featuring Susan's original songs and vocals.

Rolling Stone Magazine praised Susan's Bayou Blue, sung by Betsy Kaske for Mountain Railroad Records.

The late oceanographers and explorers, Capt. Jacques Cousteau, and son, Philippe, created a short film based
on Susan's song, Ocean Bird.
The song title later became the name of her music company, in honor of the Cousteaus.

Susan is profiled in former Georgia Governor Zell Miller's book, "They Heard Georgia Singing."

A highlight of Susan's vocal career was a year-and-a-half stint as backup singer for country music superstar,
TAMMY WYNETTE
! The group performed in Las Vegas, at Carnegie Hall, and at stadiums and concert venues across the U.S. and Europe. They appeared on The Phil Donahue Show, The Roy Clark Show, Hee Haw, and in numerous televised concerts worldwide.

Susan and her partner performed as opening act for Crosby, Stills & Nash, Barry Manilow, John Denver, Anne
Murray, Loggins & Messina, Arlo Guthrie, Janis Ian, Helen Reddy, John Prine, Leon Redbone, Don McLean
and many more, throughout the 1970s; the folk/Americana duo featured Susan's original material.

Susan has been working in recording studios since her early teens, starting out in a Milwaukee 8-track studio. As a key member of Atlanta studio vocal groups, she has sung countless jingles, corporate songs and backup tracks for industry professionals. Susan recorded hundreds of sing-along tracks for a Karaoke company. Over the years she has worked with a
wide variety of musicians, including an eighteen-piece big band in which she was the featured vocalist.

Susan's original production was the Grand Prize Runner-up in the Burt's Beeswax Lip Balm® worldwide jingle
contest!

Susan's voiceover and scriptwriting talents can be heard in productions for Okefenokee Swamp State Park, Internet
multimedia presentations, on-hold messaging and numerous radio jingles. Cantrell Properties of Florida features Susan's
narration on their promotional presentations.

Susan was co-owner of a record label and management company in Milwaukee, and has studied audio engineering,
production and promotion. She served as a board member of the Atlanta Recording Academy, and has been a guest
speaker at numerous music seminars. Susan is an ASCAP writer/publisher and an AFTRA-SAG member.
